Fr. Joseph celebrates the 60th anniversary of his ordination to the priesthood.

On March 18th, many gathered at St. John the Apostle Parish, Villa Park, IL, to celebrate the sixtieth anniversary of Fr. Joseph's ordination to the priesthood. Fr. Joseph served that parish as a weekend associate for many years, and it was gratifying to see so many present. As well as the monks, there were Sisters from both Loretto Convent and St. Patrick's Residence, where he continues to offer Mass. We welcome postulant Paul Ritt to St. Procopius Abbey

On Feb. 25th we welcomed a new postulant, Paul Ritt, from Kildeer, Illinois. Please pray for Paul as he joins our monastic community.

The monks gather inside the front door to welcome Paul. The ceremony invites and encourages the newcomer to persevere in the monastic life.

Lady Chapel Renovations

After years of planning and months of work on our Lady Chapel (which we are using to pray the Liturgy of the Hours as a community), the chapel was ready for use, starting Mar. 1 (Ash Wednesday). Dr. Matthew Levering on "Dei Verbum: Persons and Propositions" - Documents of Vatican II Lecture Series

As part of St. Procopius Abbey's the Documents of Vatican II lecture series, theologian and prolific author, Dr. Matthew Levering, spoke on Dei Verbum. His talk was titled "Dei Verbum: Persons and Propositions," and was held in the Abbey Church of St. Procopius Abbey on February 15, 2017.

Dei Verbum is one of four major documents from Vatican II that are called constitutions. Dei Verbum is the Council's "dogmatic constitution on divine revelation." In other words, it treats ...
